Victory in Daily Living

Romans 8:37 - "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

A young boy at the zoo observed an old lion behind bars. Every day, the zookeeper would enter the enclosure and place food for the lion. The boy saw the zookeeper feeding the lion, but he was concerned that something might happen to the man.

"Mister, aren't you scared in that enclosed area with that lion?" the boy asked. "No, son, not at all," the zookeeper replied. He began messing with the lion's mouth and patting his head while the lion growled and showed annoyance.

"I'm not afraid of this lion," he explained. "First, he's very old. Second," he opened the lion's mouth to reveal nothing but gums, "...he ain't got no teeth!"

Today, we stand in a position of victory when the devil approaches. First Peter 5:8 warns that the devil "walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour," but like that old zoo lion, he is no threat. When Christ is truly Lord of your life, when you have submitted everything to Him, then you can resist the devil with confidence, knowing he will flee.

It's one thing to be a conqueror, but the Bible describes us as "more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Imagine someone fighting and winning - that's being a conqueror. Now imagine someone else fighting, but you winning! That's being more than a conqueror. You stand in Christ's victory!

We don't have to wait for heaven to experience victory over the enemy. We don't have to live in defeat, constantly worried about satan's attacks. We don't have to feel powerless against spiritual forces.

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you right now, through your relationship with Christ. You can walk in the authority that Christ purchased for you at the cross. You can live as more than a conqueror, not because of who you are, but because of what He has done for you.

Reflection Question: Are you living like someone who is "more than a conqueror," or are you still afraid of a toothless lion?

"Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I don't have to be afraid of the enemy's roar when I know he's been defeated at the cross. Help me to walk in the confidence of being more than a conqueror through Christ. When the devil tries to intimidate me, remind me that he is no threat as I stand in Christ's victory. In Jesus' Name, amen."
