"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11 NKJV)
On this Christmas Day, we celebrate the birth of One Who is both Savior and Lord. The angels announced both roles - these are inseparable. Jesus cannot be your Savior unless He is also your Lord.
In Colossians 1:15-20, we see Jesus described as the Image of the invisible God, the Creator of all things, the Sustainer Who holds everything together, the Head of the church, and the Reconciler Who made peace through the blood of His cross. This is no ordinary baby - this is the God-man.
The real surprise of Christmas is not that Jesus was born in a manger. The surprise is that Jesus is God in the flesh. He is the Revealer of God, the Ranking One with all preeminence, the Creator and Purpose-giver, the Sustainer of all things, the Ruler of the church, and the Reconciler of all things.
Many people want Jesus as Savior but resist Him as Lord. They want forgiveness but do not want to surrender their lives to Him. But Romans 10:9 says if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. You call Him Lord, and He'll be your Savior. That's the offer made to each one of us. Celebrate His birth! Worship Him as God! Thank Him for your salvation because He came! Rejoice, our Savior, Christ the Lord, has come!! Hallelujah!
Reflection Question: Have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus as both Savior and Lord?
Dear Heavenly Father, on this Christmas Day, I worship Jesus as both my Savior and my Lord. Thank You for saving me from my sin and giving me eternal life. Help me live each day under His loving Lordship, obeying His commands and following His leading. May my life bring glory to Christ the Lord. In Jesus' Name, amen.
