"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." – Isaiah 40:31
Life has a way of stretching us. Like a rubber band, we’re designed to expand and contract to meet the demands of life. But when we’re stretched too far for too long, we lose our elasticity. We become brittle and fragile, unable to function as we should.
If you’ve ever left a rubber band stretched out indefinitely, you know what happens—it stops bouncing back. It breaks. That’s why God calls us to pause and rest. Waiting on the Lord renews our strength. It’s in His presence that we regain our flexibility and resilience. Without rest, we risk snapping under the pressure.
Reflection Question: Have you been stretched too far for too long? How can you intentionally rest and wait on God this week?
Father, I feel stretched beyond my limits. Teach me to wait on You and trust You to renew my strength. Help me to find rest in Your presence. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
