Heavenly Work: A Glimpse of Eternity

“And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.” - Revelation 22:3

Even Jesus described His mission on earth as work. In John 4:34, He said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” Think about that for a moment. Jesus found strength and satisfaction in doing the work God gave Him to do. He didn’t see it as a burden - He saw it as His purpose.

If Jesus, the Son of God, found joy and fulfillment in His work, how much more should we? Whether we’re washing dishes, teaching kids, or running a business, our work can glorify God when we do it with the right heart.

Our earthly work is a glimpse of the joy we’ll experience in heaven. When we think of heaven, many of us imagine rest - and there will be rest. But Revelation 22:3 tells us that we will also work in heaven.

We will serve God, free from the frustrations and burdens of earthly labor. There will be no more bad bosses, no more thorns or thistles, no more stress - just the joy of fulfilling God’s purpose.

When we see our tasks as part of God’s eternal plan, they take on new meaning. We’re not just working for a paycheck; we’re preparing for eternity.

Reflective Question: How does knowing that we will work in heaven change your perspective on your work today?

“Father, thank You for reminding me that work is part of Your eternal plan. Help me to approach my tasks with joy and purpose, knowing that they are preparing me for the work I will do in heaven. May my efforts today glorify You and reflect Your goodness. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
