"Then Jesus said, ‘Bring them here to Me.’" — Matthew 14:18 (NKJV)
Sometimes, we think what we have to offer is too small to matter. Whether it’s our time, abilities, or resources, we look at them and think, This isn’t enough. Someone else could do so much more. But when we bring our "little" to God, He takes it, multiplies it, and uses it for something far beyond what we could imagine.
The story of the feeding of the 5,000 reminds us how God works through what seems insignificant. Picture the disciples in this moment. A crowd of thousands was hungry, and all they had was a small lunch—five loaves and two fish, offered by a young boy. It wasn’t enough. But Jesus didn’t ask them for enough. He didn’t need them to have all the answers or abundant supplies. He simply said, “Bring them here to Me.”
When the disciples obeyed, Jesus took that small offering, blessed it, and used it to feed every single person in the crowd—with leftovers. The miracle wasn’t about the size of the offering; it was about the One who received it.
This truth applies to us today. God isn’t asking for perfection or abundance. He’s asking for surrender. He’s asking us to trust Him with what we have, no matter how small it seems. It might be an act of kindness, a simple prayer, or a willingness to serve in ways that feel ordinary. Little becomes much when God is in it.
Remember, success in God’s kingdom isn’t about how much we bring—it’s about our willingness to bring it. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God finishes what He starts. Like an acorn growing into a mighty oak, our small beginnings can bear great fruit when surrendered to Him.
Reflection Question: What “small” thing in your life might God be asking you to surrender to Him today?
Personal Prayer: Lord, I often feel like I don’t have much to offer. But today, I bring what I have—my time, my talents, and my heart—and place them in Your hands. Thank You for taking my little and using it for Your glory. Help me to trust You with the results, knowing that You can do more than I ever could. In Jesus’ name, amen.
